Kipp Academy Nashville

I go to KIPP Academy Nashville, which is a college prep middle school. It changed my life and education because my old school did not care about how and when I did my work. I also have anger problems and I got into fights at my old school several times. At KIPP, they taught me to control my anger, and that helped me a lot.

KIPP has many goals/mottos like "don't give up" and "try hard", but there is one main goal we have: college. They push you until you have what it takes to be successful. -- Jontae

KIPP Academy is the greatest place. We have five values, and we will climb the mountain and have the knowledge to go to college! At my old school, I didn't talk to my principal very much. Mr. Dowell is an awesome principal. When you come to him he shows respect to you. He will shake your hand and greet you when you walk in. -- Patricia

I like KIPP because if you have a problem, they find a solution. For example, this storm caused some floods in several places here in Nashville, Tennessee. They called and asked me if I needed anything. My mom feels that this is the perfect school for me. I truly feel the same. -- Bryan

Here at KIPP we always finish strong. Our teachers have high expectations for their students. I love to read because my teacher, Ms. Norman, makes it fun. KIPP also tells us our reading levels, so we can watch ourselves grow. At the start of the year I was on a 4th grade reading level. Now I'm at a 6th grade reading level, and I'm only in the 5th grade! I'm hoping to get to a 7th grade reading level by the end of the year. -- Michael
