Enroll your child at KIPP Academy Nashville

KIPP Academy Nashville lobbied extensively to broaden the eligibility criteria so that more children from low-income neighborhoods would have access to charter schools in Tennessee. In June of 2009, amendments to Tennessee’s charter school laws were passed that significantly broaden charter school enrollment eligibility for students who meet the following criteria:

• 3rd grade TCAP scores that are below

proficient in reading or math

• Zoned to a high priority school under Federal

No Child Left Behind guidelines

• Qualification for the Federal Free and

Reduced Lunch Program

KIPP Academy Nashville accepts enrollment requests from students meeting the above criteria on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year until all waiting list slots are filled. If enrollment requests exceed the number of available slots, KIPP Academy Nashville will host an enrollment lottery to determine which students will be eligible to complete the enrollment process and which students will be placed on a waiting list.

Students on the waiting list or those selected in the enrollment lottery will be immediately asked to complete the enrollment process which includes a home visit. If your student's name reaches the top of the waiting list and a position becomes available, KIPP Academy Nashville will make immediate efforts to reach you at the above-listed address and phone number to begin the enrollment process and to schedule a home visit.

If KIPP Academy Nashville makes a good faith effort to reach you, but is unable to schedule a home visit and complete the required paperwork within ten days, your student's opportunity to begin the enrollment process will automatically be surrendered to the next student on the waiting list. KIPP Academy Nashville will hold a lottery in February if neccessary.
